Redskins' Torain should play, Portis is a game-time decision

Washington Redskins running back Ryan Torian (hamstring) is listed as questionable for today's game against the Philadelphia Eagles but is likely to play according to the Redskins coaching staff. Head coach Mike Shanahan said of Torain, "If he doesn't have a setback (Sunday), he should be full speed. The last two, three days, he's been feeling much better." The Redskins were on a bye last week and wisely used to rest their injured players. Clinton Portis @TheRealC_Portis (groin) is also questionable but not as healthy as Torain. He will be a game-time decision. Portis practiced a little on Saturday. He hasn't played since Week 4. When asked about Portis, Shanahan said, "I'm just hesitant to put him in too quick. I don't want to set him back."

Fantasy Analysis:

Portis has been mediocre during his time on the field. He did have two scores in a loss to the Houston Texans in Week 2 but those touchdowns on 13 carries for just 33 yards. Washington's running game has fared much better with Torain in the backfield. He had two big games in Week 6 and 7 where he totaled 41 carries for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Torain isn't a big play sort of running, but he hits the hole hard and isn't afraid of contact. For Washington to succeed and make a push in the NFC East, they're going to need both Torain and Portis back in the lineup. This week against Philadelphia, Torain is a must-start as the Eagles have allowed running backs to accumulate 1,024 total yards and eight touchdowns. Their defense has improved recently but the last time the Redskins played, Torain had 70 rushing yards and a score while Portis 81 combined yards.
