Texans' Owen Daniels out, Andre Johnson questionable but will play
Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels
has been ruled out for this week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a hamstring injury. Wide receiver Andre Johnson
was limited in practice on Friday due to an ankle injury but is expected to play. Johnson struggled last week against the San Diego Chargers, only putting up four receptions for 41 yards. Tight ends Joel Dreessen and James Casey filled-in for Daniels in that game and combined for nine receptions and 115 yards. Head coach Gary Kubiak has been described as "noncommittal" in his descriptions of when Daniels could make a return to the field so it is unlikely he will be rushed back to the field this week or any other week.
Fantasy Analysis:
Johnson is a beast and is a must-start almost any week. In this game against Jacksonville, he certainly is. The Jaguars have had one of the most consistently bad defensive secondaries in the NFL. Over the their last four games, they've allowed only 50 receptions and 683 yards. But add on six touchdowns and suddenly those numbers aren't so good. That's the eighth most fantasy points allowed to WRs over that span. With an overabundance of good players at the tight end position this season, the loss of Daniels has been trivial to fantasy owners but a big problem for the Texans. Wide receiver Kevin Walter has basically been a non-factor for weeks now and this is putting a lot of pressure on Johnson to perform week in and week out. Daniels is almost as good as any other tight end in the league when he's healthy. With the Texans and Jaguars both sitting at 4-4, only one game behind Indianapolis and Tennessee. Each team needs all their players back as soon as possible.
