Colts' Austin Collie suffers concussion on helmet-to-helmet hit
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie
sustained a concussion Sunday night while attempting to secure a catch in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In the second quarter, quarterback Peyton Manning stepped up into the pocket and delivered a pass over the middle to Collie. As he attempted to bring in the catch, Collie collided with multiple Eagles players. Flags were thrown and the play was ruled an incompletion. The penalty was for unnecessary roughness although the referee did not identify which player committed the penalty. Upon replay, it looks as though Eagles safety Kurt Coleman hit Collie's helmet with his own helmet. Safety Quintin Mikell was also part of the tackle. Collie is alert and has movement when being looked over in the locker room.
Fantasy Analysis:
Collie, who was questionable to play due to a hand injury, was hurt pretty badly here. The replays of the hit are pretty tough to watch as Collie lies stiff and motionless on the field as Eagles players pick up what they thought was a live fumble in an attempt to return it. Collie had one catch in the game before this play. Currently the game is not yet over, yet Philadelphia has a 26-17 lead late in the fourth quarter. More tests will be be sure to come for Collie over the next few days although it seems difficult to think at this point that he will play next week.
