Seahawks' Hasselbeck still recovering from concussion
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck
did not practice today as he is still in recovery from a concussion. Hasselbeck was injured in the Seahawks' 33-3 loss to the Oakland Raiders this past weekend. Although he was injured during the game, Hasselbeck played up until the final series for Seattle. Head coach Pete Carroll feels Hasselbeck will be able to play this Sunday against the New York Giants and they are keeping him out of practice in order for him to get some rest. Hasselbeck will attempt and must pass a league-mandated concussion test and should practice on Thursday.
Fantasy Analysis:
The NFC West, as has been said many times now, is still wide open. Seattle is in first with a record of 4-3 while last place San Francisco is at 2-6. With plenty of divisional games to go, nobody's a lock to win the division just yet. In any case, Hasselbeck needs to play for Seattle to stay competitive. He's having a pretty poor season thus far and is far from a fantasy option but Seattle can beat teams in multiple different ways as they can score on special teams and defense. The emergence of wide receiver Mike Williams and the addition of running back Marshawn Lynch have helped but Seattle needs Hasselbeck to continue to improve for them to have any success in the postseason.
