Colts consider Joseph Addai to be 'a day-to-day situation'
Joseph Addai said last week that the nerve problem in his left shoulder could keep him out for up to four or five weeks. Colts head coach Jim Caldwell isn't one to look ahead. When it comes to Addai, he's taking it one day at a time.
"[Addai is] a guy whose tolerance for pain is unusual," Caldwell said. "He's one of those guys who can turn it around in a moment's notice and he's up and ready to go. It's kind of a day-to-day situation."
Caldwell also said he's not ready to rule Addai out of Monday night's game versus the Houston Texans. But he doesn't expect Addai to practice Thursday. He will likely be on the sidelines with Donald Brown
, who is still being hampered by a hamstring injury that has forced him to miss the past three games. Neither participated Wednesday.
If both Addai and Brown can't go, Mike Hart
would be top dog in Indy's backfield. Javarris James will have a larger role as well.
Fantasy Analysis:
I don't know what's going on with Brown. Hamstring injuries linger, but he's been hurt for more than a month now. He'll probably be listed as questionable again, but the odds of him playing aren't looking great -- again. Addai is an even riskier bet, so look for Hart to get the majority of the carries this week. With that perceived opportunity, I think Hart can be a very nice flex play against the Texans. He averaged four yards per carry over the past two games on 22 carries and Houston has been falling off against the run since facing the Colts in week one.
