Browns' Colt McCoy to start his second game
According to James Walker of ESPN, Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Colt McCoy
will be making his second career start this week against the New Orleans Saints. Quarterbacks Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace are both listed as doubtful. Earlier in the week, Browns head coach Eric Mangini said that he had not seen much progress in either Delhomme or Wallace to merit a return. McCoy made his first start last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, completing 23 of his 33 passes (69.7%) for 281 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
Fantasy Analysis:
McCoy likely exceeded even the most modest expectations in his first career start, considering it was against the Steelers. Pittsburgh has one of the toughest defenses in the NFL, although McCoy did lead two of his receivers, Josh Cribbs and Mohamed Massaquoi, right into crushing hits from Steelers linebacker James Harrison. Cribbs is listed as probably to play this week, while Massaquoi is listed as questionable after sustaining a concussion. The Saints play a very aggressive style of defense that really tries to get after the quarterback and force bad decisions. Although turnovers seem inevitable in this situation, it's a good opportunity for McCoy to show off his accuracy given that there will be opportunities downfield with receivers in man to man coverage.
