Cowboys' Dez Bryant has high ankle sprain
Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant
could be sidelined on Sunday due to a high ankle sprain. The Cowboys are on the road this week, facing the Minnesota Vikings at the Metrodome. According to the Dallas Morning News, Bryant missed almost all of Thursday's practice. Bryant has been one of Dallas best receivers and is the team's punt returner. Head coach Wade Phillips said he is "worried" about the injury. Bryant missed almost all of training camp and missed all of preseason due to injury as well. Akwasi Owusu-Ansah and Terence Newman will likely take over punt return duties.
Fantasy Analysis:
This seems to be a theme with Bryant. Injuries have caused him to miss more time than he has played. When he's on the field, he does show flashes. In Week 2, he had a punt return touchdown against the Chicago Bears in a loss. But unfortunately, the injuries are adding up. His lack of experience will only hurt him in the long run. There is no timetable for his return. In his absence, Sam Hurd and Kevin Ogletree will get more looks this week against Minnesota. The Vikings have been tough against the pass so Bryant, even if healthy, was unlikely to have much of a fantasy impact even in deeper leagues.
