Marquise Goodwin Scouting Report

Texas Longhorns cornerback Marquise Goodwin possesses elite speed and with that, comes great long-term potential. Even if he requires a "redshirt" year in the NFL, he should be able to contribute immediately as a kick or punt returner.

Goodwin runs pretty good routes for such a raw specimen. Sells and stems routes. Hands are hit and miss. Will sometimes secure the catch away from his body with his hands, then focus will falter and he'll cradle the ball into his chest on the next pass. Very undersized and slight frame. Won't be able to break tackles or first contact. Press coverage can really negate his impact. Must continue to improve his release off the line and use his hands to separate.

Good tenacity when blocking and plays high energy every play. Much better when put in motion since he will get a free release. Vision is lacking and needs to show better patience when identifying running lanes. Protects the ball well when going to the ground or expecting contact. Inconsistent ability to locate the football. Leaping ability average at best. Lacks frame to go up and get the football against most corners. Will rely on speed throughout his career.
