2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Jelani Jenkins, OLB, Florida
Florida Gators outside linebacker Jelani Jenkins was a big-time high school recruit who opted to declare for the 2013 NFL Draft after his junior season.
Sophomore tape makes him look like a late-first round pick when in coverage, and seemed to take a step back in junior year. Excellent coverage skills. Great feet, sound technique, excellent burst. Injuries kept him out of a few games in his junior season. Ideal fit as a weakside linebacker. Undersized, but makes up for that lack of ideal height with a frame that could add more bulk while maintaining his solid athleticism. Plays tough as a tackler, but must learn to take on blocks better. Can be eaten up by blockers. Mind ties up feet too often, making him a step late. Great range against the run, but played better as a sophomore.
