2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Da'Norris Searcy, SS, North Carolina
His success at the end of the 2008 season led to much higher expectations in 2009. Searcy started all 13 games and tallied 35 tackles, three pass breakups and one interception. The numbers got much more impressive in 2010. After missing three games due to the scandal that rocked UNC, Searcy came back and turned into a senior leader. On the year he picked off four passes and also continued to develop his skills as a kick and punt returner.
Searcy is pretty much stuck between the strong safety and the free safety position. He is not the big, physical player that most NFL teams want in a strong safety, nor does he have the range and quickness that many free safeties have in this class. He does have great instincts and knows how to play the game, but until somebody finds a position for him, he will drop into the middle or later rounds.
