2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Nick Bellore, ILB, Central Michigan
Even as a freshman Bellore took over a leadership role. His 102 tackles set a freshman school record and he even picked off a couple passes. By his sophomore season Bellore was a co-captain and an All-MAC First-Team selection. On the year he tallied an amazing 148 tackles. Bellore kept the good times rolling in 2009. He totaled 132 tackles, 13.0 tackles-for-loss, 3.0 sacks and two interceptions en route to more All-Conference accolades. Bellore's numbers went down in 2010, as CMU struggled on both sides of the ball. However, he still recorded 90 tackles and again was a first-team all-conference honoree.
At 6-1 and 250 pounds, Bellore is pretty much stuck at the inside linebacker position in the NFL unless he can gain some speed between now and April. Bellore's collegiate production cannot be overlooked, but he will not wow any scouts at the pre-draft workouts and that should keep the ultra-productive linebacker as a late round draft pick.
4/8 Update: Bellore performed pretty much as expected at the NFL combine and at Central Michigan's pro day. His lack of speed has cemented his spot as an inside linebacker in the NFL, but he could fit into a 3-4 or a 4-3 defense in time. He looked relatively fluid during the position drills and definitely should be drafted in the later rounds with his track record.
