2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Shareece Wright, CB, USC
Wright was all set to step into a starting role in 2008 and did so during the first two games of the season. However, he suffered a neck injury during practice after starting against Virginia and Ohio State and missed the rest of the season. His junior year would have to wait until 2009. But then Wright was ruled academically ineligible and he once again lost his junior season. Wright has barely had an opportunity to show his stuff heading into 2010. He took full advantage of his chance and played in all 13 games and ranked third on the Trojans with 73 tackles. That is pretty impressive for a cornerback. He also added 7.0 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks. He also led the squad with ten pass breakups and ten passes defended.
Wright could end up being the first Trojan drafted, although Ronald Johnson and Kristofer O'Dowd may have something to say about that. Wright really has only played for one season, but he has the speed and instincts to be a fine corner in the NFL. With some good workouts, Wright could see his stock skyrocket and be off the board in the second round.
