2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Rodger Saffold, OT, Indiana
Roger Saffold has had a solid career for the Indiana Hoosiers. Saffold took over as the starting left tackle with six games left in his freshman year, and has started every game he's played since; That's 41 straight games he's played in that where he has started as a left tackle. During this span the Big Ten has had several top flight college defensive ends, most of which Saffold has blocked very well. Because he doesn't play for a high profile program, Saffold needs to make a name for himself during offseason games and workouts to improve his stock. He has very quick feet and could possibly play left tackle for a zone blocking scheme after a few years on the bench. He may find his niche in the NFL as a guard. Because he's so quick, Saffold would be excellent at pulling on outside runs for an NFL offense. Currently he is likely a sixth or seventh round pick, but could improve his stock this offseason. Roger Saffold attended the 2010 East-West Shrine Game with very good results. Saffold had an outstanding week of practice, often manhandling Greg Hardy who may be a second round selection. Saffold showed great technique and quick feet, but many scouts still believe his future is as a guard in the NFL. Saffold has raised his stock, and should come off the board early in the fifth round.
