2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Corey Peters, DT, Kentucky
Peters has been a major contributor for Kentucky every since his freshman season, in which he saw action in 11 games and even started twice. The defensive tackle started 12 games in each of the next two seasons and he was named Kentucky's Most Improved Defensive Player as a sophomore. Last year he started all 13 contests and finished sixth on the team with 56 tackles (26 solo), while also recording 12 tackles for loss and four sacks. Peters has decent size at 6'3' and 295 pounds, and although he does not take up a ton of space like some run-stuffing defensive tackles, he is impressively agile. Peters has been clocked as fast as 4.86 in the 40-yard dash and he consistently runs under 5.0 from that distance. His production is sometimes called into question, as more was expected from him based on his athletic ability. Technique seems to be the reason why he sometimes gets unnecessarily overpowered at the line of scrimmage. Still, Peters has plenty of talent and that should garner him a selection at some point on Day 2 of the upcoming NFL Draft.
