2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Kion Wilson, ILB, South Florida
Kion Wilson has largely gone unnoticed on the South Florida defense. The frontline has George Selvie and the secondary has some superstars in Jerome Murphy and Nate Allen, but it is Wilson who has emerged as the leader of the unit from his middle linebacker position. Wilson spent two years at Pearl River Community College where he played at the weak side linebacker spot, but he moved to the middle when he arrived at USF. It did not take long for Wilson to earn a starting job in 2008. He started 11 of the team's 13 games and totaled 66 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, one sack and one interception. A year in the program has helped Wilson and through seven games of his senior season, he is leading the team with 49 tackles and has added 3.0 tackles-for-loss and one sack. Wilson has been under the radar for most of his career, partially because of the talent on the rest of the defense and partially because he spent a couple years at the junior college level. Yet, the 6-2, 235 pound middle linebacker is a quality player who may surprise a lot of NFL scouts during senior week and at the NFL combine. 2/21 Update: Wilson was one of a few players who stood out to NFL scouts during the practices leading up to the East-West Shrine game. He proved to be a strong run stopper and his stock is moving up. But at this point there is really nowhere else for his stock to go. An invite to the NFL Combine is good news for Wilson and that is where he could start really moving up the draft boards.
