2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
It took a little time for Trent Williams to become the dominating offensive tackle that he is now. As a freshman he earned some accolades, but the only reason he got a chance to play a significant number of snaps was because of the broken leg suffered by then starter Brandon Braxton. That allowed Williams to start the last six games of the season, and he certainly made the most of his opportunity. In 2007 he started six games at right tackle and headed into the 2008 season with high expectations. He met those expectations and started every single game, mostly at the right tackle position. In 2009 he moved to the left tackle spot and is holding the Sooners' offense together after disappointing season ending injuries to quarterback Sam Bradford and tight end Jermaine Gresham. Oklahoma's rushing numbers are way down this season, but that is because the opposition is keying in on stopping the run since Bradford is not there to pick apart their secondary. It is not Williams' fault that the Oklahoma offense is less effective in 2009. Williams should be one of the first offensive tackles off the board. He is 6-5 and 318 pounds and continues to add weight and strength. He may not grade out as well as Ciron Black of LSU or Russell Okung of Oklahoma State, but that does not mean he will not be a first round pick. 2/15 Update: Williams did nothing at the Senior Bowl to disprove the fact that he should be one of the first offensive tackles taken. On most boards he will still be behind Okung (and maybe even Bryan Bulaga of Iowa), but that still means Williams is likely a top ten or 15 selection in April. Barring a very disappointing NFL Combine, it is hard to see him dropping any further than that.

Is one of the most overrated players in the draft. Has great size, but has not lived up to the potential that he has. Disappointing senior season after switching to the left size. Must become a better run blocker. Solid pass blocker. Will be over-drafted based on his name.
