2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Darius Passmore, WR, Marshall
Passmore sat out the 2006 season. He started ten of the eleven games he played for Marshall in 2007, leading the team with 45 receptions for 660 yards and five TD (averaging 14.7 yards per reception). He also rushed eight times for 56 yards with an impressive seven TD scored. He made headlines when he torched the Miami Florida secondary with a 44-yard TD reception last season. Passmore is a big receiver who has good to great speed. He is very athletic (having been clocked as low as 4.3 and as high as 4.52). With a good first step, he can sometimes explode off the line making good yards after he catches the ball. Passmore's big hands help him make spectacular catches, but he does drop some easy ones as well. His route running is rudimentary and he not a physical player. He needs to become more of a blocker and dedicate himself to the weight room. Passmore's maturity is a concern. Passmore is one of those "sleeper"-type of performers. He has all the physical skills needed to excel at the next level. He needs to improve on some areas, but everything is there for an outstanding NFL career. On talent alone, Passmore should be drafted in the third to fourth round range. A gem of a player, who should post impressive numbers in the NFL one day.
