Cornelius Ingram Scouting Report

Ingram is out for the season without having played a single game, tearing his ACL in pre-season practice. It's a tough blow for both the Florida Gators and Ingram, who caught 34 passes for 508 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior in 2007. The tight end toyed with the idea of leaving for the NFL last year and he was projected to be taken at some point in the first three rounds. Now the decision could come back to haunt him. Ingram was redshirted as a freshman in 2004, so he is not eligible to receive a medical redshirt that would allow him to return in 2009. That means Ingram's next game will come at the next level. They (the scouts) already like him as a potential NFL standout due to his size (6'4'' and 245 pounds) and speed (can run under 4.6 in the 40). His numbers as a junior amidst a Gator offense loaded with other weapons certainly do not hurt his stock. Ingram was a red-zone fiend at Florida and he should be just that on Sundays as well. The key for Ingram is to get healthy and prove himself in off-season workouts. If he can do that, he should be able to convince at least one NFL team to snatch him up before the end of the third round. His talent, for sure, warrants such a pick.
