2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Mike Pollak, OL, Arizona State
Pollak is a big center prospect with incredible strength. Pollak uses that strength to excel in run and pass blocking. He is a three year starter while at Arizona State. He was the lone bright spot on an offensive line that allowed 55 sacks in 2007. Pollak was also the only one on the line to be voted first team All Pac-10. Pollak has had a good post season as well impressing scouts at the Senior Bowl and combine. He has adequate agility and quickness, but clearly his best attribute is his strength. Pollak has quick enough hands to keep defenders from getting to his body. Pollak will likely be the first center drafted in this year's draft. He is a very smart player as well and is intelligent enough to make the line calls necessary to play in the NFL. He also shows great awareness at picking up blitzes. Pollak struggles against quick slanting defensive tackles and has a tendency to get pushed back by strong nose tackles. Pollak could possibly sneak into the second round, but is more likely a third to fourth round pick, depending on team needs.
