Mason Crosby Scouting Report

2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Mason Crosby, K, Colorado
With his combination of power and accuracy, Crosby is the clear-cut top kicker in the NFL Draft and will be the first at his position taken off the board. He started all four years at Colorado and was All-Big 12 in his last three seasons. He did not enjoy quite as good of a senior year as his sophomore and junior (runner-up for Lou Groza Award) campaigns, but was solid nonetheless. Crosby's long field in college came from 60 yards and he routinely connected from longer than 50. Scouts wanted to see him perform in the off-season due to concerns that Crosby's stats were inflated by Colorado's thin air. He kicked just OK at the NFL Combine, but bounced back at pro day and consistently booted kickoffs well into the endzone against a light breeze. The one thing Crosby needs to work on is increasing the height of his kicks, as he has too many field goal attempts blocked. He will be either a late first day or early second day selection.
