2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Marshal Yanda, OT, Iowa
Yanda played both right and left tackle during his senior season at Iowa, but he projects as a guard in the NFL. He has decent size (6-4, 305), but the fact that he is not a mammoth (like some of the other guys in this year's draft), could account for a slip down the draft board. Yanda makes up most of that with his quickness, and he ran one of the fastest 40 times among offensive linemen at the combine (5.17). What I like most about Yanda is his work ethic and desire. Starting out at Northern Iowa Area Community College, he eventually signed with Iowa before his junior year and started every single game for the Hawkeyes from that point up to the end of his collegiate career. On the field, he never takes a play off. Yanda is very quick off the snap, getting himself into great pass-blocking position right away or making a solid initial push when run-blocking. He is projected as a second day prospect, but Yanda will be a downright steal if that turns out to be the case. Give this guy a few years to develop and he will become a solid starter in the NFL.
