2026 Cleveland Browns Team Preview

In the ever-changing and cycling NFL, the Cleveland Browns continue
to be the bottom franchise in the league on a Ferris wheel ride that
hasn’t stopped at its peak since their last division title in 1989. Over the
past 26 seasons, Cleveland has had a 185-347-1 record while winning
at least 10 games three times (1994 – 11-5, 2020 – 11-5, and 2023 –
11-6). The latter two came under the direction of Kevin Stefanski (45 -
56 over six seasons), who was let go over the winter.
The Browns brought in veteran coach Todd Monken to run their team in
2026. He’s bounced between the NFL and college football since 2007,
while spending the past two years as the offensive coordinator for their
division rival Baltimore Ravens. He held the same position in 2016 and
2016 for Tampa Bay, plus 2019 with the Browns (22nd in points scored
– 335).
Travis Switzer takes over as offensive coordinator after spending the
previous nine seasons working in various positions for Baltimore. He
earns his upgrade in job at age 33, with no other coaching experience.
Cleveland’s defense is now in the hands of Mike Rutenberg. In 2025,
he was the defensive pass game coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.
From 2013 to 2024, Rutenberg held defensive coaching positions for
the Jaguars, 49ers, and Jets.
