Golf Rankings for DEAN & DELUCA Invitational
So, Sergio finally picked up a victory last week outlasting Brooks Koepka in a playoff. This week we have more random capitalization as the Tour pros head to the DEAN and DELUCA Invitational at Colonial Country Club. We have a new sponsor, but it's the same tournament that's been held at Colonial for years.
This week's tournament stop is the DEAN and DELUCA Invitational (formerly the Crowne Plaza Invitational Colonial). It's a new sponsor, but the same old same old Colonial. Colonial Country Club runs 7,204 yards and has a par-70 scorecard. It's another par-70 course so we only have two par 5s. The course has held both a U.S. Open and a U.S. Women's Open. Colonial Country Club has been the host of the tournament since 1946.
For the second week in a row the greens are seeded with bentgrass. It's our last event Texas for the year so we won't see bentgrass frequently in the future. It's also an invitational so we won't have a full field. The field will likely top out around 122 golfers for the week as opposed to the 144 to 156 for a full field PGA Tour event.
The scoring efficiency stats have served us well the last few times we've used them so we'll keep it up.
Par 4 Efficiency 400-450yards (P4E400-450): We have 12 par 4s again this week and seven of them fall into this ranges with an eighth at 464 yards and two others at 387 and 389 yards.
Par 3 Efficiency 175-200 yards (P3E175-200): Three of the four par 3s are between 175 and 200 yards.
Driving Accuracy – It's a tight course. The players need to keep the ball on the course and they won't have much fairway to work with. This will be more of a tiebreaker than anything.
And of course, we examine Strokes Gained: Putting (SG:P) and Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (SG:T2G) each week with SG:T2G being a bit more important again this week.
As always, check back on the weather Wednesday to see the final forecast. This week it looks like the weather will provide us some more rain. There is a chance of scattered thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday so delays could be in the offing. Wind could also be a bit of an issue on Thursday and Friday, but it's Texas so that's to be expected.
It's tough to ignore Jordan Spieth in Group A this week especially if you look at the bottom of the group. Group B has a lot of intriguing options and I recommend you look far down the list for at least one option this week. Each week Group C has far too many options to choose from and I'll stay near the top of the group again this week.
