Week 2: Start 'Em
Welcome back to the NFL. As it always is, week 1 is full of up and downs, some things could have been expected and some were surprises. Week 1 was a relatively clean week for fantasy starters in terms of injuries, except for the Rams who got hit hard losing Danny Amendola for probably the season and maybe Steven Jackson for a few weeks. Also of note: Nate Kaeding looks to be done for the season. Don't forget that Arian Foster missed week 1 and no one can be sure if he will be healthy enough to play in week two. With it being only the second week of the season, you should definitely go with your top draft picks and start them again, even if they had a slow week one. Keep faith in your top picks for at least another week or two before pulling the plug. If you do happen to have an injured player or your team was weak to begin with, below are some players who might be able to help you this coming week. Good luck this week and may the force be with you
RB Carnell Williams, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Cadillac Williams was by far one of the biggest surprises of the first week of the season. Coming on in relief for Steven Jackson, Cadillac rushed for 91 yards as well as 5 receptions for 49 yards. It looks like Steven Jackson will miss at least next week and maybe more, meaning Cadillac is in line to get tons of carries; if last week was any indication, he will also get receptions, thus making him a bigger play in ppr leagues. The Rams will be playing Monday night vs. the Giants (who looked horrible last week). Look for Cadillac to have his 2nd good game of the season.
WR Brandon Gibson, NE
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Brandon Gibson went into the season ranked #1 on the Rams' depth chart, but most fantasy owners still rated Danny Amendola higher (especially in ppr leagues). Gibson only had 3 receptions in week 1, but still led the Rams with 50 yards. Amendola is gone for the next 8 weeks at least and maybe more, so look for Sam Bradford to rely more often on Gibson -- boosting up his value. The Rams play on Monday vs. the Giants who didn't do a very good job at stopping the Redskins. Gibson could be a guy to slot in at your #3 WR spot or flex.
WR Devery Henderson, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
I will probably regret saying this, because Henderson has been one of the most inconsistent receivers over the last number of years. It's not uncommon for him to go off one week and not to be heard from for weeks after that. Henderson started off the season with a bang, going for 6 receptions for 100 yards and 1 touchdown and that was with Colston in the lineup. Lance Moore probably won't be back next week and Colston is out for at least the next 4 weeks, leaving tons of opportunity for Henderson and other receivers to get more passes thrown their way. Henderson could be worth a start as a WR3 or flex.
WR Julio Jones, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
When the Falcons traded up to get Julio Jones, many people questioned the move and wondered how effective he would be (especially as a fantasy player). He proved in week 1 that despite his team losing, he can be effective and help out in offense. In his first career game he caught 5 passes for 71 yards, showing an ability to get open and make plays. In week 2 the Falcons will be in tough again playing vs. the Eagles, where we can expect a lot of offense. If you need help at your flex spot, Jones might be your guy.
WR Johnny Knox, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
No one was sure who would do all the receiving in Chicago, but you definitely knew Cutler would spend a large portion of his time throwing the ball. Knox and Roy Williams were splitting time early on. Williams looked good early, but left the game with an injury, which should surprise no one. That leaves one of the WR spots all to Johnny Knox as the Bears face the Saints in week 2. Knox didn't have such a big first week -- 3 catches for 60 yards -- but if Williams sits out next week, expect those numbers to go up. Follow Roy Williams' injury status and if he sits out look for Knox to have a big game vs. the Saints' questionable defense.
