Week 16: Start 'Em
Week 16 means you are either in the Semi-Finals or Finals of your fantasy League. So let me start by saying congrats. When it comes to your starting lineup, I will say what I always say: go with what got you to this point. But as always, there are injuries and bad match ups, which might mean you're looking for some help with one or more of your starting spots. If you are, take a look below for some options of guys who might be sitting on your bench that could be in your starting lineup and helping you to the Title in your Fantasy League. Please feel free to contact me as it gets closer to game time if you have any line up questions. Good luck and May the force be with you.
QB Colt McCoy, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Here is another rookie QB who wasn't expected to see the field this season, but again due to injuries to the other QBs and the Browns being out of the playoffs, they have gone to rookie Colt McCoy and he has impressed everyone and left no doubt who the future QB of the Browns is. McCoy won two out of his first five starts, and then missed three games with an ankle sprain. Last Sunday he came back and threw for 243 yards and 2 TDs, with no interceptions. This week McCoy faces the Ravens, who have been getting torched in the passing game the last few weeks, giving up 660 yards and 6 TDs the last 2 games. Most likely the Browns will be playing from behind, meaning McCoy will have to pass a lot. Give McCoy a look this week.
WR Kenny Britt, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
In his 2nd game back from a hamstring tear, Britt showed off some of the talent we were seeing earlier in the season. Britt seems to have a great connection with Kerry Collins, who is a much better down field passer than Vince Young and that helps the Titans get the most of Kenny Britt. Against the Texans last week, Britt had a big game, going for 6 receptions that covered 128 yards. After missing 4 games, Britt is looking to make up for lost times, so with Kerry Collins starting the rest of the way, you can expect two more big games from Britt. Make sure to have Britt in your starting lineup this week if you need some help at flex or WR3.
WR Andre Caldwell, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
After finishing 3rd in all receiving categories last year, Andre Caldwell has been pretty much an afterthought this season with the additions of Terrell Owens and Jordan Shipley in the off season. When TO went down early in the game last weekend, Caldwell finally got his chance to be part of the offense and led the Bengals in targets (6), receptions (4) and yards (89). TO will not be back this season, giving Caldwell a chance to be a part of the offense over the last two games. The Bengals will be in tough spot this week as they face the San Diego Chargers (who must win this game to stay alive, so expect the Chargers to win and win big -- meaning the Bengals will be playing from behind and need to be passing all game long). Caldwell might be your man if you need a flex start this week.
WR Josh Morgan, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Josh Morgan was having a quiet season, with most of the 49ers offense running through Frank Gore, Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree, but since Alex Smith has returned to being the starting QB for the 49ers (and Frank Gore has been shelved for the season due to injury), Josh Morgan has stepped up. In the last two games with Alex Smith back at the helm, Morgan has hauled in 10 passes for 188 yards and 1 TD, and a team leading 12 targets over the past two games. For whatever reason, it seems that Crabtree has taken a back seat to Morgan and it's clear that Morgan is becoming one of Alex Smith's favorite targets, so if you need a flex starter this week, Morgan might be your man.
WR David Nelson, PIT
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Most of the talk in Buffalo these days is about how well Steve Johnson is playing and going unnoticed is rookie WR David Nelson and the fact that he is coming on as of late. After a slow start to the season, playing behind Steve Johnson, Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish, Nelson beginning in week two, has started to come on when he caught passes for 58 yards. Since that time Lee Evans has gone down for the season due to injury and Nelson has stepped up, scoring 1 TD in each of the last three games. With Steve Johnson getting most of the defense's attention, Nelson is getting open and getting looks in the red zone. If you need a flex starter or WR3, Nelson might be your guy this week as he has a great match up vs. the New England Patriots.
