Week 10: Start 'Em
The good news for week 10 is that it's the last week with teams in a bye, the bad news is that the Chargers, Packers, Saints and Raiders are on bye this week, and those teams house many weekly fantasy starters. With that in mind and the host of new and old injuries going around, you might be in need of some help with who to put in your starting lineup. Take a look below and see some options of who you might want to start this week. If you have any other line up questions feel free to contact me anytime. Good luck and may the force be with you.
QB David Garrard, NYJ
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
With Drew Brees, Aaron Rogers, and Phillip Rivers on bye this week, there is a good chance you might need a QB and Garrard might be the one to start. Garrard has been a model of inconsistency this year and throughout his career, but the best remedy for an inconsistent QB is the chance to face the Houston Texans. The Texans are giving the most fantasy points to QB's -- surrendering a whopping 310 passing yards per game -- and have only given up less than 2 passing TD's in one game this year. While Garrard has yet to surpass 200 passing yards in any game this season, expect that to change this week. If you need a QB this week then make sure to throw Garrard into your line up and expect 250 yards and at least 2 TD passes, with the chance of some more points coming from Garrard running.
RB Mike Goodson, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
First DeAngelo Williams went down, than last week Jonathan Stewart went down, elevating Mike Goodson to #1 on the RB depth chart in Carolina. Goodson was forced into heavy action last week vs. the Saints when Stewart went down, and put up 47 total yards and 3 receptions in a Saints blowout victory. While Goodson is not an ideal RB (as he sometimes struggles as an inside runner), he is a great receiving RB -- making him even more valuable in PPR leagues. Make sure to follow Williams and Stewart's injury status, and if they both sit, then give Goodson a chance. The Panthers play the Bucs this week, who give up the 5th most fantasy points to RB's, so if you're having bye week or injury issues, give Goodson a look.
RB Marshawn Lynch, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
There were high hopes for Marshawn Lynch when he got dealt to Seattle, but so far he hasn't performed much better than when he was playing for the Bills. One of the main reasons Lynch has been so bad is that Seattle was blown out in his last 2 games, leaving very little opportunities for Seattle to run the ball, leaving Lynch on the bench for much of the game. This week should be different as the Seahawks play the Arizona Cardinals and Lynch should be given many more opportunities to run the ball and put up fantasy numbers. If you are in need of a RB to start this week, Lynch could be your guy; forget the past 2 weeks and give him a go.
WR Jacoby Jones, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Ever since Andre Johnson came into the league, the Texans have been looking for someone to line up opposite him to draw away the double coverage Johnson sees every week. Jacoby Jones is the receiver most often mentioned as the guy who can help ease the coverage on Johnson. Unfortunately Jones has been anything but that weapon across the field, as he has dealt with injuries and inconsistencies. However, this week he faces a match up that should allow him to put up some very good fantasy numbers. Jones faces a Jaguars team that is giving up the most fantasy points to WR's and is a match-up that should leave Jones owners salivating at the mouth. If you need a WR this week, Jones is a great match up and deserves a chance to start, use him as a flex or WR3 in your line up.
WR Mike Thomas, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
If anyone watched the Chargers receivers eat up the Texans DBs last week, you will know why Mike-Sims Walker, Mercedes Lewis and Mike Thomas are must starts this week. Sims-Walker and Lewis are more known than Thomas, so I will remind you why he is a great start, especially in PPR leagues. Thomas has had at least 4 receptions and at least 40 yards in 6 out of 8 weeks this season. While those aren't outstanding numbers, they are very consistent. This week Thomas has the luxury of playing the Texans, who give up the 2nd most fantasy points to WRs in the league. Thomas makes a great flex or WR3 start this week.
