Week 15: Super Sleepers
QB Jason Campbell, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Over the past couple of games Campbell has played some pretty good football. Two weeks ago against the Saints, he completed 30 of 42 for 367 yards with 3 touchdowns and just one interception. He followed up that performance going 16 of 28 for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns in Oakland last week. This week Campbell and company head to New York to face the Giants. Back in week one when these two teams squared off, Campbell had an average day throwing for 211 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Back then the Giants were getting ready to start the season 5-0 and everyone felt they were on their way to winning the division. Since that perfect start, the Giants have only won 2 games and just last week they were torched for 45 points at home by the Eagles. The Giants' defense may be ranked 9th against the pass, but they are not playing like it. Campbell, on the other hand, has played well these past couple of weeks and this momentum could carry over to this week's game against the Giants.
QB Kerry Collins, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
In the first six games of the season, Collins threw 8 interceptions and just 5 touchdowns as he led the Titans to a 0-6 start. After the Titans' bye week Kerry was benched in favor of Vince Young, who then led the Titans on a 5 game winning streak before dropping a week 13 match-up in Indianapolis. Then last week (while already leading big in the first half), Young left the game with a hamstring injury. Collins came in to finish off the game and completed 11 of 19 for 154 yards and a touchdown. This was the first game this season in which Collins did not throw a touchdown. If Young is unable to return next week against the Dolphins then Kerry may be a good pick up. As I said, the Titans will be hosting the Dolphins' defense, who are currently ranked 22nd against the pass and 13th against the run. Teams know if they plan to beat Tennessee they need to do everything possible to slow down Chris Johnson. This could lead to a decent game for Collins. Keep an eye on Young's injury status. If he is unable to play this week then Kerry may be a good pick up.
RB Aaron Brown, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Let's face it, if your fantasy team has made it this far it's likely it didn't happen on the shoulders of Kevin Smith. Aside from a couple of 100-yard performances this season, Smith did little to help fantasy owners. On the other hand, his play was at least consistent and you knew he would score somewhere in the 6-8 range. Unfortunately for Kevin and his fantasy owners, last week's game against Baltimore did not end well. Smith suffered a season ending knee injury and will not only miss the remainder of this year, but possibly the start of next season. Replacing him in the line up will be veteran Maurice Morris and rookie Aaron Brown. With the prospect of Smith missing the start of next season, there's a good chance Brown will see a good number of carries these final few weeks. The Lions are not fighting for a playoff spot and there is no good reason to give the rock to Morris. The Lions should use Brown the same way they used Smith in order to get a feel for what the young man can do. I say should because nobody really knows what will happen. If you are looking for someone to add for depth or to a dynasty roster then Brown may be a good pick up this week.
RB Chester Taylor, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
At this point in the season it surprises me to see that Taylor is still available in so many leagues. The only reason I could come up with for this is that Adrian Peterson owners are not worried about losing AP to injury. Well if you are an AP owner and you don't have Taylor, then shame on you. Chester Taylor is an excellent back and should he be given an opportunity, I'm sure his numbers would make fantasy owners happy. Speaking of chances, this week's match-up against the Panthers could be one of those opportunities. The Vikings have pretty much locked up the number two spot in the playoffs, so there is little need to run down their starters. Couple that with the Panthers' 26th ranked run defense and a likely late game lead and it's possible we see a little more of Chester Taylor this week than one might have thought. Not only could we see more of Taylor this week, but next week we may see him play a larger role as well. In two weeks the Vikings head to Chicago to face the league's 24th ranked run defense in what will most likely be a meaningless game for Minnesota. If you are an AP owner and you don't have Taylor, it may be wise for you to grab him this week. I'd hate to hear how you lost the championship because someone else started Taylor against you.
WR Antonio Bryant, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
I'm not really sure Bryant should be considered a super sleeper, but his 2 reception 22 yard performance against the Jets last week may have fantasy owners thinking twice. Being a Jets fan, Bryant's performance last week came as no surprise. I knew Bryant would be covered by Darrelle Revis all game and that would not be good news to Antonio. Revis has been one of the best corners in football this season. If you plan to throw the ball in his direction then you best make sure the ball is on target. Something told me that Freeman wasn't going to throw Bryant's direction too often. This week, however, things will be different for Bryant and Freeman. The Bucs head to Seattle to face the league's 29th ranked pass defense. Bryant and Freeman should hook up often and it wouldn't surprise me to see Antonio finish with 100 yards and a touchdown.
