Week 5: Sit 'Em
The following is a recap of Week 4 Sit 'Em projections. Several of these players were complete busts, a few underperformed and a couple were surprise performers:
Laurence Maroney -- 6 rushing yards and 1 reception - Bust - New England's ground game is not focused on Maroney and the air attack is extremely effective
Reggie Bush -- 37 rushing yards, 7 yards over 3 receptions and a fumble loss - Underperformed - Thomas is having a solid season and if Bush does not play a greater role in the passing game, his value drops
Marshawn Lynch -- 4 rushing yards and 5 receptions for 43 yards - No ground game, but decent receiving if you are in a PPR league
Larry Johnson -- 53 rushing yards and 3 receptions for 1 yard - Still decreased production and not a great option as a number one or two RB, maybe a flex option
Knowshon Moreno -- 65rushing yards, 2 receptions with a TD and a fumble loss - Covered some yards on the ground and had a TD. Moreno's value just rocketed with the injury to Buckhalter.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh -- 8 receptions for 103 yards - Racked up the yardage and if you are in a PPR league, great, Wallace is targeting Housh and this is positive
Eddie Royal -- 2 receptions for 16 yards - Bust - Wow, I expected more from Royal this season, but he and Orton have not clicked. He is a potential longer term sit.
Week 5 Sit 'Em:
This week I have 3 running backs, 2 tight ends, 1 receiver and 1 defense to sit. Derrick Ward and Willie Parker have both been nursing injuries and have competition at their position. Le'Ron McClain was explosive last season, but is no match for McGahee and Rice in top form. Terrell Owens has only 8 receptions this season and has been a huge disappointment. Anthony Fasano and Zach Miller are two tight ends with QB issues and there are better options likely available. The Denver defense is likely to be dealt their first loss this season versus the potent New England offense.
RB49 Derrick Ward, Tampa Bay @ Philadelphia Week5: 4.5pts / Average week 8.8pts = -49%. Ward's production has declined since Week 1 and his current knee injury will likely limit him in Week 5. He did return to practice Wednesday, but Tampa Bay is also on quite the losing streak.
RB69 Le'Ron McClain, Baltimore vs. Cincinnati Week5: 1.8pts / Average week 6.4pts = -72%. McGahee and Rice are thriving.
RB35 Willie Parker, Pittsburgh @ Detroit Week5: 7.0pts / Average week 9.4pts = -26%. Parker's turf toe appears to not be getting better. Mendenhall has filled the running void, so Parker may be kept out until he is fully ready.
WR31 Terrell Owens, Buffalo vs. Cleveland Week5: 6.6pts / Average week 10.3pts = -36%. Owens has 8 receptions on the year, need I say more.
TE33 Anthony Fasano, Miami vs. New York Jets Week5: 1.8pts / Average week 5.0pts = -64%. Fasano has 4 receptions on the year with 2 fumble losses.
TE16 Zach Miller, Oakland @New York Week5: 4.2pts / Average week 5.7pts = -26%. Miller and his offense will face a tough opponent this week.
Def26 Denver Defense, Denver vs. New England Week5: 4.5pts / Average week 5.3pts = -15%. Denver is off to a great 4-0 start, but this week the high powered New England offense will be a threat.
RB Le'Ron McClain, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
McClain showed his dominance in the running game last season, but he is no match for Willis McGahee and Ray Rice running the way they are. McClain is at best playing a FB role and should be sitting on your roster if you have not dropped him yet. Until one of the studs gets injured or struggles with productivity, McClain is of no value.
RB Willie Parker, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Mendenhall has shown he can produce. Parker's turf toe appears to be limiting him significantly. He probably will not play this week and Pittsburgh is likely to keep him sidelined until he is at full speed. We have seen injuries like this hinder players all season, so beware.
RB Derrick Ward, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Ward's production has declined since Week 1 and his current knee injury will likely limit him in Week 5. He did return to practice Wednesday, but Tampa Bay is also on quite the losing streak. Graham and Williams are also in this mix so Ward may not be rushed back from injury. Look for a RBBC approach for sure, with Ward receiving rest.
WR Terrell Owens, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Owens only has 8 receptions on the year. He has been a major disappointment for many fantasy owners, including myself. I agree that Owens should be toward the top of your trade considerations list. He is on mine, if anyone will bite in my league. The next few games will be Owens' chance to show his value, but with the direction things are headed, I struggle to see his upside.
TE Anthony Fasano, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Fasano has 4 receptions on the season, plus two fumble losses. His 2009-2010 campaign is not looking good. With the loss of Pennington and the strength of the Miami running game, Fasano's value has dropped. I agree that he is a player downgrade; do not trust that he will help gain you valuable points at tight end. Explore other options.
