Week 4: Sit 'Em
The following is a recap of Week 3 Sit 'Em projections:
Carson Palmer threw for 183 yards and 1 TD
Cedric Benson rushed for 76 yards and a TD against the Pittsburgh defense
Larry Johnson faced a tough Philadelphia defense coming off a big loss and they limited him to 38 yards with a fumble
Matt Hasselbeck's broken rib kept him out of Week 3 and this had consequences for some of his receivers
TJ Houshmandzadeh had only 4 receptions for 35 yards
Matt Schaub had a career high performance in Week 2 and looks to be real. He completed 26 of 35 for 300 yards with 3 TDs and 1 interception
Fred Jackson faced New Orleans and rushed for 71 yards and had 4 receptions for 26 yards
Sit 'Em projections can be a gamble just as Start 'Em players can always falter. Starting this week, this feature will focus on building the sit listing around average and projected points that are affected by match-up, injury, or other circumstances. Consider these projections in your decision to sit or start your players. If your gut tells you to start a guy and he appears on this list, at least weigh your options.
Week 4 Sit 'Em: This week we have 5 running backs and 2 wide outs that are not worth starting. Several teams and players have been struggling on offense of late and other players are in situations where they have competition from teammates for playing time. A few players this week have also been featured in previous weeks and until they increase their productivity, will likely be considered for future lists. .
RB Reggie Bush, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Reggie Bush has been averaging 11.5 points per week. In Week 4 he will rush on a New York defense that has been playing well. He is projected to have 8.3 points this week. Bush has been playing a larger role in the passing game and his rushing attempts have been limited. Thomas is rushing well of late and in tandem with the explosive air attack and focus in New Orleans, Bush is likely to be limited this week.
RB Larry Johnson, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Larry Johnson makes the list again this week. Kansas City will be up against a New York team that is off to a 3-0 start and Kansas City's offensive game is struggling. Jamaal Charles appears to be moving in on Johnson's territory and unless Johnson can jump start his game soon, he will lose playing time. I agree that Johnson is a downgrade and add that he should be sat until the KC offense can get going. In Week 4 expect Johnson to average around 8 points -- down from his average of 10.6 points per week.
RB Marshawn Lynch, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Marshawn Lynch is projected to have just over 8 points in Week 4. He will rush on the Miami defense and face an offense that held Indianapolis to just over 14 minutes of offense, despite losing. Lynch's production is estimated to be low this week given it is his first season game and his offensive line is struggling. Fred Jackson has been filling the rushing role well and Lynch will likely be worked back into the rotation gradually.
RB Laurence Maroney, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Laurence Maroney faces Baltimore in Week 4. He is projected at having 3.1 points -- down 52% from his weekly average of 6.4 points. Fred Taylor and Kevin Faulk are receiving the workload in New England. Maroney's attempts have been limited and he has not been a factor in the passing game. I would hesitate on Maroney this week or any other, given the running situation. Look for his production to be very limited until he steps up his game. He is currently overshadowed by two solid backs.
RB Knowshon Moreno, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Moreno and Buckhalter have been splitting carries. Even with Shanahan gone, Denver continues the RBBC approach. Moreno has received increasing attempts and has improved his performance each week so far this season, but Buckhalter remains the team's leading rusher. Until Moreno out performs Buckhalter consistently, the RBBC situation will continue. Denver is off to a 3-0 start, however they face a Dallas team that can be quite solid when they are on. Moreno's projected points this week are down from his average, so beware.
