Week 13: Start 'Em
Can't believe it's already week 13, the final week in many leagues before the playoffs begin. Once again in week 12 fantasy owners dealt with roster issues. Reggie Bush is still inactive, McNabb got benched,
QB Trent Edwards, OAK
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Last week I wrote about starting Trent Edwards, hopefully you listened to me because he had a huge game as he passed for 273 yards and 2 touchdowns not to mention rushing for 38 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. He probably won't score those running touchdowns again, but he has another great match up this week as the Bills face the San Francisco 49ers (who are giving up 244 yards per game through the air). Even without the rushing stats Edwards should have no problem putting up big numbers vs. the 49ers, especially at home. Look for at least 250 yards and 2 touchdowns this week.
QB Gus Frerotte, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
No one will ever mistake Gus Frerotte for Peyton Manning, but if facing the right match up he can be a solid fantasy starter. Frerotte is having one of his better seasons in a long time with the help of one of the best running games in the league. Earlier this year, Gus went into Chicago and put up 298 yards and 2 touchdowns in a shootout loss; this week he gets those same Bears at home in Minnesota. The fact that the Bears are one of the best against the run (only giving up 80.7 yards per game) means the Frerotte will have to use his arm to help lead the Vikings to victory. Look for him to put another big day, at least 250 yards and 2 touchdowns this week. If you are in need of help at QB, Frerotte might be your guy.
RB Justin Fargas, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
It only took 12 weeks for Fargas to rush for 100 yards and it will be in week 13 that he gets his first touchdown of the season. This isn't how it was supposed to be after signing a big contract in the off season, but a loaded back field and injuries have made this somewhat of a nightmare season. Even though McFadden stole 2 goal line carries, Fargas had a team high 24 carries. If he gets another 24 carries this week, watch out as Fargas goes up against the always weak Kansas City defense (who are giving up 166 yards per game on the ground so far this season). Make sure to have Fargas started this week.
RB Larry Johnson, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
No one has fallen faster from fantasy grace then Larry Johnson, who only 2 years ago was the 2nd best fantasy option behind LT. Some of it definitely has to do with his play and injuries, but most of it is due to a weak offensive line and an all around bad team that is almost always losing. This season LJ has run the ball well (with a 4.7 yard per carry), but he has only 565 yards and 3 touchdowns because he has been injured and only played in 7 games. The bigger problem is that the Chiefs aren't good and seem to always get behind early, meaning less running the ball. This week the Chiefs go into Oakland to face the Raiders (who are giving up 160 yards per game on the ground). After seeing LJ run the ball well last week (7 carries for 81 yards), he should have no problem putting up some good numbers this week.
WR Bernard Berrian, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Can you say rollercoaster season ?? After starting out real slow over the first 2 weeks, then putting up big numbers over a 4 week stretch, he has come back down to earth failing to gain over 50 yards in his last 3 weeks. Berrian is never going to be the guy who catches many balls a game, but he is definitely the kind of player who makes big plays and scores long touchdowns. His is the perfect example of boom or bust and this week will be BOOM. Berrian faces a Bears defense that is giving up an uncharacteristically high number of passing yards (244 yards per game). This will be a game when the rollercoaster goes back up, make sure Berrian is active in your lineup this week.
