Quarterbacks
Tom Brady was named Super Bowl MVP for the third time, tying him with Joe Montana for the most in NFL history … Aaron Rodgers was named the league's MVP for the second time … It now looks like Peyton Manning is very likely to return for at least one more season … Johnny Manziel checked himself into rehab last week to try to get his life and career back on track. The Browns are reportedly leaning slightly toward re-signing Brian Hoyer. There have also been reports that they will give "very strong consideration" to trading up in the draft to take Marcus Mariota … Russell Wilson will once again participate in spring training with the Texas Rangers this year … In a letter to their "premium fans," the Redskins did not mention Robert Griffin III as part of their nucleus … The 49ers are expected to use the read-option more often in 2015. This season, Colin Kaepernick kept the ball on only 22 percent of the team's read-option plays … Jaguars new offensive coordinator Greg Olson does not plan on discouraging Blake Bortles from scrambling and making plays with his legs … There is a rumor circulating that the Eagles are interested in acquiring soon-to-be free agent Jake Locker this offseason … Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said the team will probably hold a competition for the starting QB job in training camp ...The Raiders will likely cut Matt Schaub since they can save $5.5 million in cap space by doing so … The Saints re-signed journeyman QB Luke McCown. He is the frontrunner to back up Drew Brees next season … Matt Barkley will likely be fighting for a roster spot in Philadelphia next preseason. Nick Foles expects to be the starter … Geno Smith still is not sure of his future with the Jets.
Running Backs
The Seahawks have reportedly offered Marshawn Lynch a huge contract extension that would keep him in a Seahawks uniform for possibly the rest of his career. According to head coach Pete Carroll, Lynch and the team have been in talks regarding a new contract for a "long time"… Reggie Bush's attorney strongly denied the allegation that his client spiked drinks and gave ecstasy to women at a nightclub while hanging out with accused serial rapist Darren Sharper a few years ago. Bush has not been charged with any crime … DeMarco Murray was named Offensive Player of the Year … Le'Veon Bell was named the league's Fantasy Player of the Year. He has also been given 15 months probation stemming from an August DUI … Adrian Peterson, who has been on the commissioner's exempt list since September, is eligible for reinstatement on April 15 … The Jets are expected to cut Chris Johnson … Joique Bell, who recently had a minor procedure and to address knee and Achilles issues, expects to be ready for OTAs … The Dolphins are not expected to bring back Knowshon Moreno … The Buccaneers' coaching staff really likes Charles Sims, and he is expected to have an expanded role next season … Joseph Randle was arrested on marijuana charges. Those charges have since been dropped, but the police are still investigating him for possible domestic violence. The arrest was his second in past four months. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are expected to bring back restricted free agent Lance Dunbar.
Wide Receivers
Josh Gordon has been officially suspended for at least one year. The Browns intend to go after an impact wideout this offseason. They are also expected to bring back Miles Austin ... Jeremy Maclin fully expects to be an Eagle next season … Bruce Arians "desperately" wants Larry Fitzgerald back with the Cardinals next season … Odell Beckham Jr. was named Offensive Rookie of the Year … Keeping Julio Jones in Atlanta on a long-term deal is a priority for new Falcons head coach Dan Quinn … Eric Decker said he has been trying to convince former teammate and impending free agent Demaryius Thomas to join him with the Jets … The Ravens reportedly offered Torrey Smith a five-year contract worth $35 million, including $19 million guaranteed, prior to this season. Smith will become a free agent next month … The Vikings are expected to ask Greg Jennings to renegotiate his contract … Marvin Jones is progressing well after missing all of the 2014 season due to ankle and foot injuries. The Bengals expect him to be ready for OTAs … Lance Moore has requested to be released from the Steelers.
Tight Ends
Rob Gronkowski was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year … The Panthers are expected to give Greg Olsen a contract extension before the start of next season … Jordan Cameron has no interest in returning to Cleveland next season … Lions general manager Martin Mayhew expects Eric Ebron to have an expanded role next season and vastly improve upon his first-year numbers … Austin Seferian-Jenkins said his troublesome back is healthy once again.
Coaches & Front Office
The Falcons admitted to blasting artificial crowd noise while opponents were on offense in the past couple of seasons. They are likely to face league discipline … Browns GM Ray Farmer might be subject to a suspension and the team could lose draft picks due because he suspectedly texted coaches on the field during games this season … Colts GM Ryan Grigson was identified as the league's source in "Deflategate" … Dan Quinn has been named the Falcons' head coach. Marquand Manuel is now Atlanta's defensive backs coach and senior defensive consultant … The Seahawks promoted Kris Richard to replace Quinn as their defensive coordinator … The Rams hired Frank Cignetti as their offensive coordinator. He had served as St. Louis' quarterbacks coach since 2012 … The Colts hired Mike Hostler to be their WRs coach … The Titans promoted Mike Mularkey to assistant head coach … The Raiders tapped Ken Norton Jr. to be their defensive coordinator … Former Steeler Pro Bowler Joey Porter is now the team's outside linebackers coach … The Titans hired Dick LeBeau as an assistant head coach. He will run the team's defense … Mike Pettine plans to "immerse" himself in the Browns' offense next season.
