Week 14: IDP Sleepers
LB Dhani Jones, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
The 7-year veteran has fallen a long way since his peak in 2003 with the Giants when he recorded career highs in tackles (120) and interceptions (3). After an unimpressive 3-year stint with the Eagles, he was released and fell into the linebacker purgatory that is the Cincinnati Bengals. Lately, though, he's shown flashes of the promising athletic force he once was. Jones is on pace to notch his best statistical output since 2003 – this despite spending the first two games of the season on the bench.
CB Richard Marshall, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Marshall followed up a 13 tackle outing in week 12 with a pick for a touchdown in week 13. He's been making big plays all year round and has emerged (thanks in large part due to injuries) as one of the league's most reliable remaining IDP defensive backs.
S Brandon McGowan, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
With Adam Archuletta continuing his downward slide, the door has been opened for McGowan to take over as the Bears' starting strong safety. McGowan has already shown flashes of brilliance this year including 30 tackles and an INT in just 5 starts. His play should only improve and go forward now that he has the added confidence of having earned his way into the lineup by outplaying an established (or, at least, well-paid) veteran.
S Kerry Rhodes, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
In previous years, Kerry Rhodes has been a great source of tackles and sacks, but not so far in 2007. His numbers are way off what they were last year and there's no easy explanation as to why. Rhodes is still a great player and is worth picking up if you're in a league where some disgruntled owner cut him loose. He may not be making all the tackles anymore, but he does have three INTs in his last three games.
S Lance Schulters, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Schulters, who's played for four teams (and started for one) in the last five years, will hop aboard the safety carousel for the league's most hapless team after yet another injury has knocked a DB out of the lineup. This time, it's Cameron Worrell's ACL tear that clears the way for another in a long line of safeties to try his hand. Schulters has the most NFL experience of the many prospective Dolphin safeties this year and could reward owners with some decent tackle numbers down the stretch – provided he somehow avoids the injury jinx that has made mush of the Miami secondary.
