Week 10: Pickups of the Week
Waiver Wire Watch: Looking Ahead to Week 10
As we head into week ten of the NFL season, here are some possible pickups that might still be available in your league...
QB Kellen Clemens, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
We named Clemens last week after he was named the Jets' starting QB, replacing an ineffective Chad Pennington. The Jets lost a close game, but Clemens was 23 of 42 for 226 yards and 1 TD. Clemens has more value in dynasty and large keeper leagues, but if your league starts 2 QBs, then he warrants fantasy owners in those type leagues considering picking him up for a roster spot.
QB J.P. Losman, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Losman got the start with rookie Trent Edwards out with an injury and Losman led the Bills to a big 33-21 win over Cincinnati on Sunday, going 24 of 34 for 295 yards and 1 TD. Early reports are that Losman's performance could have earned him another start this week at Miami, so if you are looking for a bye week pickup or injury replacement at QB, then he is worth picking up.
QB Patrick Ramsey, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Broncos starting QB Jay Cutler left Sunday's game with an injury and Patrick Ramsey came into the game to replace him, going 29 of 46 for 262 yards, along with 1 TD. Ramsey is in his sixth year in the NFL, although mostly used as a backup QB in his career, he did start several games in Washington a few years ago. Cutler left the field on a cart, although he was standing on the sidelines in the second half of the game, so his status for week ten is up in the air. I recommend keeping an eye on Cutler's injury status and if he is out, then Ramsey is worth picking up for a roster spot.
RB Jesse Chatman, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
With Miami starting RB Ronnie Brown out for the season with an injury, Jesse Chatman became the starting RB for Miami. The Dolphins were off in week 9, but in his last game he had 16 carries for 79 yards and 3 receptions for 21 yards. Chatman is very familiar with Cam Cameron's offense, so he could be a decent fill-in for him. If he is still a free agent in any league you are in, then I recommend fantasy owners grabbing Chatman up immediately because he could be a nice sleeper RB in the second half of the year.
RB Ron Dayne, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Ahman Green was back this week getting the start for the Texans, but he left again with his knee injury, allowing Dayne to rush for 122 yards and a TD on 21 carries. It is obvious Green is banged up and will probably be limited in most games. Dayne is a free agent in most leagues, so if you are looking for RB help then consider picking up Dayne.
RB Warrick Dunn, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Most fantasy owners probably thought Dunn was done, but with Jerious Norwood limited with an injury on Sunday, he had his best game of the season rushing 27 times for 100 yards, plus a TD. Obviously fantasy owners can't expect this kind of production each week, but if Norwood's injury continues to limit him then Dunn's role could increase, making him more valuable. Dunn is probably only available in some of the smaller leagues, but if you have a roster spot available, Dunn is worth picking up for depth, because with all this year's injuries at RB, you can't have enough RBs on your fantasy team.
