Week 5: Pickups of the Week
TE Brandon Pettigrew, ---

With his penchant for empty calorie stat lines, the former first round pick was an unequivocal disappointment last season. On the surface, Pettigrew's 7-54 against the Bears was more of the same. Well, except that the catches and yards exceeded his combined output over the first three weeks this season. With Nate Burleson out, Matthew Stafford turned not to Ryan Broyles, but Pettigrew (and the less interesting Kris Dunham). Until Broyles or another wide receiver emerges, the No. 3 target role after Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush is open for debate. Seeing as Pettigrew caught 83 passes in 2011, maybe it shouldn't be. If he can avoid those pesky drops, we could be looking at a weekly top-15 option. We could also be looking at more frustration, but for now the opportunity for more exists.

The Rams have disappointed owners in several areas this season, including with their defense/special teams units. Their touted pass defense has just one interception, their potentially explosive return game has not generated any touchdowns. That could all change in Week 5 against the lowly Jaguars, who average a league-low 224 yards per game. For those streaming defenses, get back on the St. Louis bandwagon at least for one week.
