Week 8: Pickups of the Week
Waiver Wire Watch: Looking Ahead to Week 8
As we head into week eight of the NFL season, here are some possible pickups that might still be available in your league...
QB Jeff Garcia, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Garcia had 316 yards and 2 TDs in the loss to Detroit. On the season, Garcia has 1504 yards, 7 TDs and no interceptions for the Buccaneers. He was undrafted in most normal league formats this year, but he continues to put up good stats each week. If he is available in your league, he is worth picking up as a quality backup or bye week fill-in and he is worth starting in favorable match ups.
QB Brian Griese, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Griese continues to have to throw the ball and he had his second straight 300 plus yard game in Sunday's win over Philadelphia. In his four games since taking over as the Bears' QB, Griese has thrown for 1203 yards, 8 TDs, with 6 interceptions. He has another good matchup this coming weekend against Detroit (#30 pass defense). If he is still available in any league, he warrants being picked up.
QB Sage Rosenfels, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Rosenfels, the seven year NFL veteran, came in to replace the injured Matt Schaub and threw for 290 yards, plus 4 TDs. If not for a last second FG by Tennessee, he would have led them to a fourth quarter comeback win. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on Schaub's injury status for this week at San Diego (#25 pass defense). If Schaub is out, Rosenfels could be worth getting for a bye week replacement for desperate fantasy owners or fantasy owners in leagues that start 2 QBs.
RB Jesse Chatman, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Miami starting RB Ronnie Brown left Sunday's game with a knee injury, allowing Chatman to come in to gain 73 yards and a TD on 7 carries. Chatman is very familiar with Cam Cameron's offense, so if Brown is out, he could be a decent fill-in for him. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on Brown's injury status this week, but I would recommend grabbing Chatman up if you have a roster spot available on your team just in case.
RB Earnest Graham, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Graham had 19 carries for 92 yards, along with 13 receptions for 99 yards this past weekend. Due to injuries to Michael Pittman and Cadillac Williams, the fourth year RB out of Florida became the starting RB by default, but he has looked good in limited playing time the last few games. Tampa Bay acquired Michael Bennett from Kansas City in a trade this past week and it is unclear what his role in the offense will be at this time. Graham knows the offense and is currently listed as the starter, so if you have a roster spot available then I would pick him up simply because you can never have too many RBs, especially this year with all the injuries.
RB Michael Robinson, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
It was reported that Frank Gore suffered some sort of ankle injury in Sunday's loss to the Giants. It is unknown at this time what Gore's status will be this week or even if it is a serious enough injury to keep him sidelined for this week's home game against New Orleans; however Gore owners may want to pick up Robinson as a handcuff just in case.
