Week 6: Pickups of the Week
RB Jason Wright, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Browns' starting RB Jamal Lewis left Sunday's game with an injury and Wright came in to get 15 carries for 59 yards and 4 receptions for 43 yards. If you are very desperate for a RB, then consider Wright because the fourth year RB from Northwestern could be the starter if Lewis were to have to miss any time. It is unknown at this time what Lewis' status will be for week six against Miami, so keep an eye on the situation because the Dolphins have one of the worst run defenses in the NFL this season. Wright is only worth fantasy consideration if Lewis is out.
RB DeShawn Wynn, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
The rookie seventh round draft pick from Florida was once again the starter for the Packers on Sunday night. Wynn had 13 carries for 78 yards, plus a TD and 1 reception for 13 yards against Chicago. If he is available, I would pick him up for roster depth and he could provide a flex play for fantasy owners in large leagues desperate for starting RB help.
RB Selvin Young, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
In case you missed the news the last few days, Denver starting RB Travis Henry appears to have failed a drug test and has filed some sort of lawsuit to have the results dismissed. All of the pregame shows had this story on Sunday with their experts all agreeing that Henry will most likely be suspended at some point, which makes Young worth picking up just in case he becomes the Broncos' starting RB. We named the undrafted free agent from Texas in our preseason article after he had a good preseason and was named the backup to Henry. If he is still a free agent in your league, I would grab him up immediately because it is very likely that at some point he will be the Denver starting RB this season.
WR Andre' Davis, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
In his last three games as a starter, Andre Davis has accounted for 13 receptions for 266 yards, plus a TD during that span of games. With both Andre Johnson and Jacoby Jones out with injuries, Davis is the starter and the main receiver for Houston. I named Davis in last week's article and if your fantasy team needs WR help, then I would recommend fantasy owners pick up Davis.
WR Devery Henderson, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Devery Henderson was a good sleeper pick-up in 2006 when he had 32 receptions for 745 yards, with 5 TDs for the Saints. However, he had been asleep for the Saints in their first three games this year before busting out with 4 receptions for 101 yards against the Panthers on Sunday. Obviously a 100 yard receiving game will put a player on the radar screen, but I think Henderson (and the Saints' offense) need to show more consistency before rushing to grab him. Fantasy owners in normal 10-12 team leagues should keep an eye on Henderson, but if you are very desperate for WR help then he is worth consideration for a roster spot in very large leagues only.
WR Derrick Mason, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Shockingly, WR Derrick Mason is still a free agent in many leagues. If he is available in any league you are in, then grab him immediately! In his first five games, he has 44 receptions for 372 yards and 1 TD. Mason won't get many TDs, but he has been very consistent each week, averaging 8 receptions and 74 yards a game. He is definitely worth starting in leagues that give points per reception or leagues that start 3 WRs. If Mason is still a free agent in any league that you are in, then I advise you to pick him up immediately.
