Week 5: Player Upgrades
WR Kendall Wright, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Since Kenny Britt can't stay healthy for a full four quarters, Kendall Wright has 33 targets -- 22nd in the NFL. Wright has been solid statistically, but he has struggled with drops. He leads rookies in receptions (18) and must improve upon his 54.6-percent reception rate (turning targets into receptions). The opportunities are there and while Wright hasn't been worth a confident insertion into starting lineups, he's certainly valuable as a high upside bench player (particularly in PPR leagues). He hasn't yet broken off a long reception, but he can be quite a terror as a YAC receiver. Look for him to improve throughout the season.
TE Scott Chandler, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
We all saw Scott Chandler succeed last season and for whatever reason, dismissed it. Now that he's scored four TDs through four games, we can't ignore him anymore. His ownership rates are low across all fantasy platforms and should be available in the majority of leagues. He's been targeted 23 times, which places him as a high-end fantasy TE2. That said, since Ryan Fitzpatrick consistently looks for him around the end zone, Chandler is now a Top 5 TE. The Bills play San Francisco in Week 5 and that obviously isn't a great matchup offensively. Since the 49ers use their ILBs to cover tight ends, there may be a good chance for Chandler to create some mismatches in the red zone, particularly in play action. He's not quite a weekly starter in my book, but he is a peach as a backup.
