Week 4: Pickups of the Week
Waiver Wire Watch: Looking Ahead to Week 4
As we head into week four of the NFL season, this coming weekend marks the start of the bye weeks. I would think that most top players were drafted in your league, but here are some possible pickups that might still be available in your league...
QB David Carr, ---

QB David Carr, Carolina: I named Carr in the preseason article as a QB to keep an eye if Jake Delhomme struggled early in the season; however it was an injury to Delhomme's elbow that gave Carr an opportunity this past weekend. Carr was 3-4 for 56 yards in limited duty, but fantasy owners should keep an eye on his injury status this week because Carr is worth picking up if Delhomme's injury keeps him on the sidelines.
QB Daunte Culpepper, ---

QB Daunte Culpepper, Oakland: Culpepper was 8 of 14 for 118 yards as he came in for relief duty for a banged up Josh McCown and helped the Raiders get a win over the Browns. At this point it is unclear as to who will start in week four at Miami. The Raiders will probably go to rookie first round pick Jamarcus Russell down the road, but if you are desperate for a QB pick up, then you could consider Culpepper.
QB Trent Green, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
QB Trent Green, Miami: In his three games this season, Green has thrown for 219 yards, 287 yards, and 318 yards, along with 4 TDs (plus 5 interceptions). Green only warrants fantasy consideration as a backup QB, but if you are in a very large league or league that starts two QBs, then Green is worth a roster spot.
QB Brian Griese, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
QB Brian Greise, Chicago: It is time for a change in Chicago! After 3 games, Rex Grossman has yet to throw for 200 yards in a game (166.7 yards per game average) and he has thrown only 1 TD to 6 interceptions. Grossman looked horrible on Sunday night against Dallas and it is time for the Bears to at least give Greise an opportunity to see what he can do for their offense. If you are a fantasy owner in a large league, or league that starts 2 QBs, keep an eye on this situation.
QB Kurt Warner, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
QB Kurt Warner, Arizona: Warner replaced an ineffective Matt Leinart, going 15 of 20 for 258 yards, plus 2 TDs and almost led them to a comeback win against the tough Baltimore defense. Leinart will probably remain the starter, but Warner showed he still has something left in the tank and can step in if he is needed again. If you are a Matt Leinart owner, then you might want to consider picking up Warner as a handcuff just in case if you have a roster spot available.
RB Correll Buckhalter, ---
MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
RB Correll Buckhalter, Philadelphia: Westbrook had a great game on Sunday before leaving with bruised ribs, but he was already nursing an injured knee. Buckhalter had 7 carries for 43 yards, plus a TD in mop-up duty against the Lions. At this point, all the Westbrook owners should already have him as a handcuff, but if he is still a free agent in your league, then I would advise picking him up for a roster spot because recent history shows Westbrook can't stay healthy for all 16 games.
