Dolphins claim RB Steve Slaton off waivers
It didn't take running back Steve Slaton long to find a team interested in his services. One day after he was released by the Houston Texans, the Miami Dolphins claimed Slaton off of waivers on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Slaton was a fantasy stud during his rookie season of 2008. He gained more than 1,600 yards from scrimmage and scored 10 touchdowns. But since then, he's been bogged down by injuries and problems hanging on to the ball. For most of the last season and all of this one, Slaton had been no better than the Texans' No. 3 running back.
Fantasy Analysis:
If anything, this move hurts Reggie Bush
's value a bit since Slaton has a similar skill set. But there's no telling how much playing time Slaton will see. The Dolphins could just be playing it smart and picking up Slaton for when Bush sustains a multi-week injury. Right now, Daniel Thomas is the RB to own in Miami, but it'll be interesting to see how he performs in a difficult matchup this week at the San Diego Chargers.
