Rams re-sign WR Mark Clayton, might place him on reserve/PUP list
Wide receiver Mark Clayton
couldn't find any takers for him or his surgically repaired knee. He was pretty strong in four games with the St. Louis Rams last year until tearing his patellar tendon in week five. So, with the season on the horizon, Clayton ended up agreeing to come back to his most recent surroundings.
The Rams re-signed Clayton on Wednesday to a one-year contract. However, Clayton is not yet healthy enough to practice, so the team placed him on the preseason Physically Unable to Perform list. If he's not healthy by Saturday, the team will need to place him on the reserve/PUP list, which would force him to miss the first six games. A Rams source has told Howard Balzer of ESPN 101 in St. Louis that Clayton's status is "to be determined."
Fantasy Analysis:
The Rams have a glut of receivers, something that will have to be worked out by the start of next week. Some notable players are going to get cut here. For fantasy purposes, I don't think Clayton is worth your time because of his knee injury. If there is any guy out of this crowd I want, it's Danny Amendola
while keeping an eye on Mike Sims-Walker
. But I think Amendola is going to be a fantastic PPR player in Josh McDaniels' system.
