Ravens expand search, but Schottenheimer could be best choice
Following their anticipated meeting with Eagles assistant John Harbaugh on Tuesday, the Ravens will have interviewed six candidates for their vacant head-coaching job, but the best fit for the team could be someone the team has yet to speak formally with - Marty Schottenheimer. One year removed from a 13-3 season and quarterback issues aside, the Ravens are not that far away from rebounding from a trying campaign and a stellar regular season coach like Schottenheimer could get them quickly back into the playoffs. Schottenheimer is expected to wait for this initial interview process to pass before looking closer at the Ravens. Perhaps coincidentally, the Ravens have already met with Schottenheimer's son Brian, the Jets' offensive coordinator, for the top coaching spot. Colts assistant Jim Caldwell, Cowboys assistant Jason Garrett and former Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan are among the other leading candidates.
