Chargers' Antonio Gates finally practicing
San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates
had been on the Physically Unable to Perform list for all of training camp, but that came to an end over the weekend. Gates went through a full practice for the first time in camp Sunday and felt good enough to participate in Monday's walkthrough.
"It's a really, really good sign," Gates told the San Diego Union-Tribune on Sunday. "It actually put a smile on my face. This was a really positive day for me."
Gates' plantar fasciitis has been lingering since last season, landing him on the PUP.
Fantasy Analysis:
And it will continue to linger. This is a positive step in Gates' recovery, but I don't think he'll ever be without pain at any point this season; he'll just need to manage it, which he does very well. I'll say it again: Gates is the clear No. 1 tight end in fantasy and will probably be a game-time decision again for many weeks. If you can put up with that week-to-week uncertainty regarding his health, go all-in on Gates.
