Titans' Kenny Britt sought by police for outstanding warrants
It just doesn't stop with Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt
. The bad news seems to come in droves now.
Britt is a man wanted by Nashville, Tenn. police as it was revealed Monday that he has two outstanding warrants in the state. Police spokesman Don Aaron told The Tennessean that the warrants allege Britt made inaccurate statements on his driver's license applications on two occasions. It is believed Britt provided incorrect information related to whether his license had been suspended in the past. The charge against Britt is a misdemeanor.
Aaron said the warrants were sworn out by the Tennessee Highway Patrol on April 14, at which time police attempted to serve them at Britt's residence, but he wasn't home. Aaron said he expects Britt to surrender soon.
"We would anticipate that [Britt] would report and surrender himself on these and let them be served when he returns to the state of Tennessee," Aaron said. "If he does not, he'll be subject to arrest."
According to the Tennessean, Britt has been involved in at least seven incidents with police since the Titans drafted him in 2009. Most recently, Britt was arrested on Wednesday in New Jersey and charged with obstructing the administration of the law, resisting arrest and tampering with or fabricating evidence. While resisting arrest, Britt allegedly crushed a cigar containing what officers suspected to be marijuana. He is scheduled to appear in a Hoboken, N.J. courtroom this Thursday to answer for those allegations.
And that arrest came one day after Britt pleaded guilty to careless driving charges stemming from a separate arrest in New Jersey back in April. For that, Britt was fined $478 and four points will be transferred to his license.
Fantasy Analysis:
Here's my opinion on this story: Dude. Just ... dude!! What the heck, Kenny? It was reported a couple of days ago by NFL.com's Albert Breer that the Titans plan to "come down hard" on Britt with punishment as soon as they are allowed. In other words, when the lockout ends. Britt will probably receive some sort of reprimand by his team and the league. I'm not going to guess on what that will entail, but a suspension of some considerable length should be a definite at this point.
