Broncos want to run the ball more in 2011

When it comes to the Denver Broncos' offense, a lot of attention is spent toward Tim Tebow @TimTebow, and rightfully so. But he will not be asked to carry that side of the ball for Denver this year. If you believe offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, the majority of the burden will fall on the running backs. "We need to get back to the old Bronco way of running the football here," McCoy told the Broncos' official website. "With our head coach, John Fox, he is determined to run the ball. When I was in Carolina with him, we had a two-headed monster every week. From our first transaction made in free agency with Stephen Davis back in 2003, he and DeShaun Foster led us to the Super Bowl running the football. Then we had DeShaun and DeAngelo (Williams), then we got Jonathan Stewart from Oregon once DeShaun left and went to San Francisco. So we will do a great job running the football and get back to the way Terrell (Davis) used to run the ball here." The Broncos rushed the ball on 398 plays last year; they passed on 580 plays. Knowshon Moreno @knowshonmoreno was their leading rusher with 779 yards on 182 carries.

Fantasy Analysis:

The Broncos' couldn't run the ball very well last year, but when you give about a quarter of your rushing attempts to Laurence Maroney and Correll Buckhalter, you get what you deserve -- nothing. McCoy's Carolina connection with Fox is one of the reasons why many say Denver will be DeAngelo Williams @DeAngeloRB' new home when he can sign with a team after the lockout. Moreno seems to be Denver's No. 1 RB, but there have been multiple reports stating that the team would rather have him be more of a third-down back than a workhorse. The Broncos' leading rusher for 2011 probably isn't on the roster right now.
