Update: Vikings 'almost certain' to activate Sidney Rice this weekend
The news has been across the spectrum for Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice
, but it looks like he will be back after all. According to Steve Wyche at NFL.com, a league source told him that it is "almost certain" that Rice will be activated for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. His playing time and starting status are still unclear but head coach Brad Childress has said that if, by chance, Rice is not activated that he will be placed on the season-ending injured reserve list. When asked about his playing status earlier in the week, Rice said, "I am pushing to be out there."
Fantasy Analysis:
Well, it's make or break time for Sidney Rice. The Vikings need all the help they can get but who knows what could happen in the next 24 hours. The news has been on both sides of the issue but in either case, starting Rice in your fantasy lineup can't happen. Add him, keep him on your bench and hope for the best. Beyond that, there's nothing else to do. The Vikings still have a very mediocre passing offense, which is ranked 18th in the NFL. So even with Rice, it's still a possibility that things don't change. Favre has thrown 10 touchdowns and 16 interceptions this season, it's hard to imagine those numbers flipping or drastically improving.
