Raiders' Nnamdi Asomugha misses practice
Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is likely to be given a few days off from practice in order to rest an ailing right ankle injury. Head coach Tom Cable is still optimistic that Asomugha will be okay to play against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. "He's improving, he is starting to put some weight on it," Cable said. "He and I talked this morning and we'll see where he's at tomorrow and again on Friday. We're trying to take every precaution right now to keep him off his feet." Asomugha was hurt during the fourth quarter of the Raiders' win against the Seattle Seahawks this past weekend when he tweaked his ankle stepping on the foot of Seattle wide receiver Golden Tate.
Fantasy Analysis:
It's still difficult to comprehend, but the Raiders are much better this season and their best player still may be Asomugha, especially on defense. They really can't afford to have a player of his caliber taking time off. This weekend's game against the Chiefs is huge as it sets up who's the leader in a crowded AFC West division. Kansas City is currently 5-2 and the Raiders are at 4-4. A win keeps them in the thick of the race and a loss puts them at a big disadvantage for a playoff run as it is unlikely a wildcard spot emerges from the division. For those with the Oakland defense on their fantasy roster, Kansas City doesn't exactly have a formidable offense, but they certainly appear to be the one of the best teams in the AFC, so start them with caution. Asomugha is tough and I'd expect him to play.
